Hollie Cavanagh kicked off the show with "River Deep, Mountain High". The judges said they loved it.
Phillip Phillips sang the Box Tops' "The Letter," switching up the melody in the process.
Jennifer Lopez admitted to not knowing the original, so she had a little trouble critiquing. Steven Tyler said that he missed the original melody.

In a new spin on dating shows, Fox is mimicking the format of NBC's The Voice, with "The Choice: a six-episode summer series that features groups of four male celebrities in spinning chairs "blindly" evaluating potential dates.
The idea goes back to "The Dating Game", but instead of buttons, the chairs include "love handles" that, when pulled, signal interest in a "fantasy date."
As with "The Voice", if more than one pulls the lever they must compete for the woman; in a second speed-dating round, the woman must quickly convince the celeb of her date worthiness.
One Fox TV exec says, "They will go on the date, but the date is relatively insignificant" to the show. "It's really about the picking and elimination."
The celebs (to be named later) are "famous, successful, very attractive and single."
Cat Deeley (from "So You Think You Can Dance") will host the series, which starts June 7, Thursdays at 9 ET/PT.
The creators of a Starz series wanted an authentic look for “Magic City,” a show set in 1959 Miami-- and it was nearly impossible to find local women with natural breasts.
According to a locals casting director, “I’ve actually had better luck finding synchronized swimming groups than I did finding real boobs."
Mitch Glazer, a “Magic City” producer and writer, says they “were rigorous about everything across the board from music to architecture down to [the breasts]”.
One of the casting notices read: “GIRLS HAD FULLER FIGURES BACK THEN. … SO NO SKINNY MODELS. ALL-NATURAL — NO PLASTIC SURGERY/BREAST IMPLANTS.”
Breast implants are the most popular plastic surgery procedure, and South Florida accounts for 16 percent of all of the country’s plastic surgery. Miami came in third, behind Beverly Hills and San Francisco, for the highest number of boob jobs.
The casting director also had to look out for tattoos, lip injections and other cosmetic procedures. He said, “We need girls with the big hips and the curves. And down here [in Miami], everybody is so fit. It’s like tiny little waist and big boobs, pardon the French. But we have to be really careful about how we go about the casting process. It’s a huge challenge.”
“Magic City” was filmed last year in Miami. The series “centers on Miami mobsters and other characters from Miami Beach in the late 1950s.”

Ke$ha is this month's cover girl for V magazine and she talked about her recent work with the Flaming Lips and collaborations she would like to see happen with Justin Bieber and Keith Richards.
She said: "The range of artists I want to work with is so vast it's bizarre. I would love to have Keith Richards on the record. I would sure as hell like to do a collaboration with Bieber and at the same time do a song with the Flaming Lips. If someone is a real artist, you can't confine them to a particular genre. It's my mission to make it all make sense somehow."
On her style: "I do feel like there are the pop stars of the world and then I'm like their dirty little sister, running around with s**t on my face in combat boots because I can't walk in heels."
On her upcoming album, which is still untitled and has no official release date: "The first record was all me living in LA, trying to pay my rent, have a really good time, and look good on nothing. But ever since then I've seen how many people my music can reach, and I've realized that I have somewhat of a social responsibility to make sure everything I say is positive."
V Magazine's Americana Issue hits newsstands May 10th. Ke$ha stripped down for the cover, wearing nothing but an American flag painted on her face.
Jennifer Lopez is almost 20 years into her music career and she's just now getting ready to go on her first solo tour. This week, she announced she’ll spend her summer on the road with Enrique Iglesias and Wisin Y Yandel.

Lot of energy, lots of great music, obviously. A little bit of English, a little bit of Spanish, a little bit of everything I think that our fans really want."
She gave props to her tour mates, calling them "great performers". She also promised that she and Iglesias will flip-flop headlining slots and will also do some songs together as well.
