New kid on the block 12 year old Lorenzo "Lori" Moore is a talented but raw young baseball player who is determined to play ball in the local Colt league. Reluctant former pro Joey deLuca is forced by his dad, restaurant owner Big Al, to take on the coaching of a team. His misfits vie with the other teams in the league for the big payoff: the chance to shag balls in the upcoming Home Run Showdown at the big league baseball stadium. Unfortunately, Lori finds himself caught in a sibling rivalry between Joey and his brother, Colt League coach Rico, whose underhanded tactics might derail Lori's dream.
